Dark Souls III : The Ringed City DLC Review

The last add on for Dark Souls III is the downloadable content stage/level, the Ringed City. This DLC is meant to be the last test for the player and the last challenge you face after all the other trials. You can see that while playing through it. You will need to have plenty of supplies and strong armor on hand.

You will need them because if the game as taught you anything by this point, you’re going to die and you need to stay full-health as long as you can. Another thing you need to know by this point of the game and you should by now, is this finer points of fighting. You won’t last long in the Ringed City if you can’t fight your way though a large group of enemies. This time around, the enemies are stronger and bigger so you will need to be on guard, everything is out to kill you/attack you!

You’ll make your way through a swampland and this is another area where you need to be on guard since the swamp is poisonous. This will affect your health and in a land where everything is out to kill you, something that drains health is a definite negative. It will be a bad time if you don’t notice that you’ve been poisoned by the swampland so be careful. There are also tree-like enemies and bug-like monsters all over this place out to attack so again, be on guard.

Fighting enemies in large groups has never be an easy task in Dark Souls III but you’ll get plenty of practice in that during the Ringed City DLC. There will be plenty of group attacks as well as large monsters out to get you. The giant boss fights could be considered group attacks/multiple phases because when you think you have the win, there will be another part of the battle that will take more time/skill to win. The bosses are some of the toughest battles in the game, but they look fantastic and as challenging as ever.

The DLC is half city and half swampland and as I’ve already mentioned the swamp is a detriment to your health. This will be your toughest challenge in the game since there are plenty of boss fights in this DLC such as Halfight: Spear of the Church and Slave Knight Gael for example. It will take tight controls and combos as well as being quick on the recovery spells to defeat these monsters. You should be able to learn the patterns of these boss fighters but that might take some trial and error out of you and you might perish in battle quite a few times before you learn their pattern.

I feel like I have repeated myself quite a few times here but you need to be quick on the controls, quick on the spells, have fighting down, and have amazing armor and weapons. You will need everything in your arsenal to be at 100 percent if you are going to escape the Ringed City with victory but when you do it will be so worth it! I would like to thank Bandai Namco for the review code.
